Spring Smoke School
The South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources will offer Visible Emission Evaluation Certification (smoke school) April 27 – 28, 2021, at the Fort Pierre Expo Center located at 320 Casey Tibbs Street, Ft Pierre, SD. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only a limited number of attendees will be allowed to register per session. This requires advanced online registration. Please only sign-up for one session. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email. Keep the email, as it will have a link to edit your registration if you later decide to attend a different session or cancel. Additionally, if an individual were to fail the visible emissions exam on his or her first trial, that individual may be able to attend the following session if the session has not reached its allowed capacity.
The following safety measures will be in place: 6-feet social distancing, available hand sanitizer, and optional face masks. If you are uncomfortable with attending, you have the option to allow another certified individual to conduct any necessary readings at your facility. Please do not attend if you are not feeling well.
This training will be offered free of charge. This spring’s smoke school certification will not include a classroom session. Several certification runs will be offered, and each registrant need only pass a single run to become certified. Smoke school certification must be repeated every 6 months.
