Diesel Emissions Reduction Act (DERA) Funds -

EPA State Clean Diesel Funds Awarded for Round Eleven

The South Dakota Clean Diesel Grant Program was awarded $274,146 in October 2018 under EPA's State Clean Diesel Grant Program. The program provides rebates to help purchase new buses to replace old, high-emitting buses. The South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources administers the program in South Dakota. Total rebate per replacement bus will be up to 25% of the purchase price of a new bus with an engine certified to EPA emission stardards, 35% of the purchase price of a new bus with an engine certified to meet CARB’s Low-NOx Standards, or 45% of the purchase price of an all-electric bus. For Round 11, thirty qualifying applications were received. Initially, the top ranking eleven applications will receive funding and are shown above. If the 2019 SD Legislature gives spending authority for the Volkswagen Mitigation Trust, the remaining 19 applicants will receive funding and funding will be also be available for additional vehicles. Therefore, DENR is still accepting applications.
