Real Time Hourly Data
The Air Quality Program is collecting data from the School Site in Sioux Falls, the Credit Union Site in Rapid City, the Black Hawk Site, Wind Cave National Park Site, the Badlands National Park Site, and three sites in Union County (Hyperion Energy Center) on an hourly basis. We have been reporting the information from the School and Wind Cave Sites for ozone and PM 2.5 to AirNow for national Air Quality Index (AQI) maps which are updated hourly at the AirNow website http://www.airnow.gov/.
The AQI is an index for reporting daily air quality. It tells you how clean or polluted your air is, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you. The maps are assigned a specific color to each AQI category to make it easier for people to understand quickly whether air pollution is reaching unhealthy levels in their communities.
The raw data will now be published as soon as practical after the end of each hour for these sites on our website.
